My name is Rhonda and I’m a graphic designer/illustrator. A few years ago a client came to me to design a line of religious shirts along the lines of ‘I Love Jesus’. (This was right around the time that the ‘I Love Black People’ shirts were really popular). Well, the project never went anywhere, but I started thinking that it would be funny to design a shirt that said ‘I Love Homos’. So I did just that and opened a CafePress store just to see what would happen.
Gradually I started adding other gay-oriented designs (trying to avoid the typical rainbow that most GLBT shirts consist of) and people started buying them!
In the spring of 2006 I decided to open a dedicated e-commerce store and do the fulfillment myself. Along with my partner’s financial and emotional support (not to mention the encouragement and help of some dear friends), Queer Republic Tees was born.
